High-Dose Vitamin C Exerts Its Anti-cancer Effects in a Xenograft Model of Colon Cancer by Suppressing Angiogenesis

چکیده
Several studies have been conducted to investigate the anti-cancer effects of vitamin C (VC). However, effect high-dose VC administration on tumor angiogenesis remains unclear. Focusing our VC, study investigated (4 g/kg) vascular endothelial growth in mice with xenografts a rectal cancer cell line referred as Colon 26. Male harboring 26 tumors were established, and solution was orally administered once daily for 14 d. On final day study, lower limb tissues serum samples collected analyzed expression related proteins well levels reactive oxygen species (ROS). Oral decreased volumes increased p53 endostatin levels. In addition, plasma part ROS tissue hypoxia inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α) reduced by administration. factor A (VEGFA) D (VEGFD) These results suggest that exerts its suppressing angiogenesis.

Melatonin exerts anti-oral cancer effect via suppressing LSD1 in patient-derived tumor xenograft models
Aberrant activation of histone lysine-specific demethylase (LSD1) increases tumorigenicity; hence, LSD1 is considered a therapeutic target for various human cancers. Although melatonin, an endogenously produced molecule, may defend against various cancers, the precise mechanism involved in its anti-oral cancer effect remains unclear. Patient-derived tumor xenograft (PDTX) models are preclinical...
متن کاملHigh-dose vitamin C and cancer
Vitamin C (ascorbic acid, ascorbate) is a basic compound that is of great importance with its role in various enzymatic reactions including the synthesis of collagen, as well as with its redox functions. Vitamin C has become the center of interest in cancer studies, in consequence of the facts that connective tissue changes and vitamin C deficiency were first alleged to be associated with cance...
متن کاملInvestigation of the Effects of Vitamin C on Resistance to 5-FU in Colon Cancer Cells Line HT29
Introduction: There is growing evidence about the use of antioxidants to reduce the side effects of chemotherapy and cancer drug resistance. Therefore, this study aimed to use vitamin C as an antioxidant and determine its effect on drug resistance in HT29 cells. Materials & Methods: During this case-control study, HT29 cells were first cultured and evaluated by MTT assay for cell death in th...
متن کاملAspirin exerts high anti-cancer activity in PIK3CA-mutant colon cancer cells
Evidence suggests that nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) may improve patient survival in PIK3CA-mutant colorectal carcinoma, but not in PIK3CA-wild-type carcinoma. However, whether aspirin directly influences the viability of PIK3CA-mutant colon cancer cells is poorly understood. We conducted in vitro experiments to test our hypothesis that the anti-proliferativ...
متن کاملAnti-cancer activity of Annexin V in murine melanoma model by suppressing tumor angiogenesis
Annexin V, a protein with high affinity to phosphatidylserine (PS) in a calcium dependent manner, has been widely used to probe apoptosis. Annexin V in inhibiting engulfment of apoptotic cells by macrophages had been reported to increase the immunogenicity of tumor cells undergoing apoptosis. However, far less is known about its multiple properties, especially in cancer therapies. Here we found...
